PORCHLIGHT STUDIOS 23/3/08
We've just completed the final recordings in Ireland for our new album entitled 'Animal Dream' which is due to be released later this year on Seadog Records. These sessions took place in the lovely Porchlight Studios in Ranelaigh. The sessions were recorded and engineered by Matthijs Van Der Spek who previously recorded the 'Palace For The Lost Ones' E.P. We were joined by some fantastic musicians whose performances were amazing. We'd like to thank Cora Venus Lunny, Eimear O'Grady, Christian Volkmann and Caoimhin O'Raghallaigh. We'd also like to thank Johnny from Porchlite for his hospitality and sense of humour and to Matthijs for his never-ending patience!
GROUSE LODGE 26 /11/07
We're just back from recording at the amazing Grouse Lodge studios in Co. Westmeath. We returned to the studio with the prodigious Owen Lewis to record more tracks for our forthcoming album which has yet to be titled. Owen and his assistant Anders were really professional and helped us to get some really great takes down. The studio itself was an amazing place to behold and it was great to get out of the city, even just for a weekend. We hope to release a single early next year so watch out for it.
'UP AND DOWN THE HILL' VIDEO 22 /11/07
House Of Cosy Cushions were picked to have a music video made by the renowned Tisch School of Arts at NYU in the States. Director John Lamensdorf and his crew made the video for our song 'Up and Down the Hill' in collaboration with Richard. The video stars the incredible actress Caroline Baker and will be unveiled at the premier in the Sugar Club on the 11th of December.
WHELAN'S 09/11/07
Last night we played our first headline gig in Whelan's and it was a magical experience. We were supported by two great acts, Ewa Gigon and Windings who both played great sets. We were joined on stage by Sophie Zeyl, who flew in from Holland to play the gig and she brought a special kind of animal magnetism to the proceedings. We were also joined by the harmonica king Chris Volkmann who shook things up during 'How Clever'. We all really enjoyed the set and thank all who came. We look forward to playing Whelan's again in the new year.
CATHY DAVEY TOUR 30/10/07
We're just back from being tour as support for the wonderful Cathy Davey. We had the opportunity to play five amazing dates in great venues around Ireland culminating in the final show in the Spirit Store in Dundalk. It was a great experience and we had lots of fun with Cathy and her amazing band. Thanks for the hospitality guys! Cathy is playing the Button Factory on the 12th of December and it will no doubt be an amazing gig.
THE NEW HOCC WEBSITE 30/9/07
This is the new House of Cosy Cushions website! After careful consideration it was decided that a plain old html website was the way to go, to make sure that the site could be easily updated by the band. We'll try to maintain and keep the information as up to date as possible but for the most up to date info check our Myspace page.
ENNISTIMON FESTIVAL 22/9/07
HOCC played our first gig with the full lineup since Castle Palooza in the village of Ennistimon, Co. Clare. The gig went well and everyone had a great time. We would like to thank everyone involved for their hospitality and friendship. Hope to see you all again next year!
CASTLE PALOOZA 4/8/07
HOCC played on the Boudoir Stage at the Castle Palooza festival in the beautiful surrounds of Charleville Castle, Tullamore. We were lucky to be the last band to play in the sunshine before torrential rain came down! It was a great event and it was good festival experience for the band. We'd like to thank Suzanna, one of the event's organisers for all her hard work and for the invitation.
RECORDING SESSION 23/7/07
We went into the studio to record with sound engineer Owen Lewis and recorded four new songs. The beautiful and talented Cathy Davey joined us to record some vocals on two of the tracks and her performance was amazing. We'd like to thank Cathy and Owen for their hard work and just for being nice people! It was a great experience and we all enjoyed the process. We're very pleased with how the new songs sound and hope to have mp3s online soon.
